For a ceramic-coated vehicle, quarterly is the cadence that keeps the coating performing across its full rated life. Paint protection film wants a check twice a year, primarily so the edges get inspected -- lifting starts at an edge, and it is inexpensive to correct when caught early and expensive when it is not. Interior refreshes run as needed rather than on a fixed schedule. Those are starting points, not rules: a car that lives outside, covers highway miles through a New Hampshire winter, and gets washed at home between visits needs more attention than a garaged weekend car driven only in good weather. We tailor the cadence to how you actually drive and store the vehicle, and we would rather set a realistic interval you keep than an ambitious one you skip. A maintenance visit starts with a safe wash -- the method matters as much as the products, because the most common way corrected paint picks up new swirl marks is a well-meant wash between visits. From there we decontaminate where it is needed rather than as routine, since clay and iron removers should only be used when there is bonded contamination to remove. We top up the protection so the coating or sealant keeps beading and releasing dirt, clean and dress the wheels and tyres, and give the interior a light refresh. On vehicles carrying paint protection film we inspect the edges and seams at every visit. We set expectations before each appointment so you know what is being done and what is not, and we flag anything we find that needs a separate booking.

Most of our work is in-studio, and deliberately so. Coatings need a controlled environment to cure, correction needs consistent lighting to inspect properly, and film needs a clean, temperature-stable space to lay without contamination trapped underneath -- none of which a driveway provides reliably in New Hampshire. Our Milford studio is climate-controlled for exactly that reason. Some maintenance services are less environment-dependent and may be able to travel, so it is worth asking during booking and we will advise honestly on whether the result would be as good. Where we cannot do something well on site, we will say so rather than take the booking. For most customers the practical answer is concierge pickup by appointment, which gets the vehicle to the studio without costing you the trip, and means the work is done in the conditions it actually needs rather than the conditions the weather happened to allow that morning.

Yes, and they should be maintained together rather than separately, because they age differently and a vehicle carrying both will show the difference if only one is looked after. On a typical install the film covers the front third and the coating covers everything, film included. During a maintenance visit we check the film edges and seams for any sign of lifting, remove bonded contamination from both the film and the coated paint, and refresh the hydrophobic layer across the whole vehicle so it beads and sheds water evenly. That evenness is the point: a car where the coated paint still beads and the film has gone flat looks patchy in the rain and gives the install away. Film and coating also stain at different rates, so catching contamination on the lighter film early keeps it looking clear.

Nothing is voided and nothing is lost permanently -- the protection simply degrades further than it would have, and the next visit has more work to do. What typically happens is that the coating stops beading properly, bonded contamination such as iron fallout and tar has longer to embed, and on filmed vehicles an edge that had just started to lift has more time to progress. We reset the protection level at the next visit: a full decontamination, whatever correction the paint needs to recover, and a fresh top-up rather than simply adding product over contamination. Then we talk about cadence honestly. If quarterly is not realistic for your schedule, a longer interval you actually keep produces a better outcome than a short one you miss, and we would rather plan around your life than around an ideal. The one thing worth not postponing is the film edge check, because that is the item where a delay changes a cheap fix into an expensive one.
